Moving From a War Economy to a Peace Economy – Mary Beth Sullivan, MSW
Mary Beth Sullivan, MSW, is a respected colleague and friend who is active with Maine’s Global Network Against Weapons & Nuclear Power in Space. She authored a compelling article, featured in The Humanist (January/February 2012), where she challenges our world political & economic leaders to change their current economic strategy. She envisions the conversion of the US’ chief industrial export – arms/weapons to one that centers on becomes an asset to our community – one that is centered in global peace, renewable sustainable energy, and the pressing needs of the 99% to build a equitable “survivable future.”
“If weapons are the umber one industrial export, what is the global marketing strategy? ‘Endless war’ becomes the refrain.” – M.B. Sullivan (2012).
